This is the bizarre moment a deer made an unusual screeching sound - sending tourists into fits of laughter during their travels around Japan. 

Gavin Shapiro, 26, from New York, recorded the footage with his girlfriend Kate in the city of Nara.

The screeching noise sounds disturbingly similar to the sound of a squeaky door closing.

Gavin told MailOnline: ‘‘You can just go walk up to them and feed them cookies. Sometimes they swarm you and you have 20 deer standing around you trying to get cookies.

‘I've never heard of a deer screaming like that and it took us all by surprise. Normally they make that squeaky door sound at the beginning of the video.’

In the clip, the deer approaches the filmmaker before making the bizarre sound.
