Former president Donald Trump is “safe” after shots were reportedly fired at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday afternoon.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” Trump-campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.

“Sources said that Trump was never in danger and that the shooting happened in an area outside the club that is known for high crime,” according to the New York Post.

The incident comes after the GOP nominee survived a brush with death at a Pennsylvania rally in July. A spokesman for the campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment about additional details about the incident.

This is a developing story.
